All of these bits have leverage for chin and poll pressure as well as bar pressure. Can be used as mild gag bits (if the Dee rein loop is used or with curb action if the lower rein loop is used. Can be used simultaneously with two reins. They have independent lateral movement. (recommend a bit guard) Many trainers feel that chain mouths are the least severe because a chain breaks in so many places and spreads the mouth pressure more evenly. The three-piece dog bone has a similar effect. Two-piece smooth snaffle is considered mild but presents considerable tongue pressure. However, the twisted Wire Mouth is is a more severe bit altogether and deserves a Level Three rating.
