Because of recent recalls of consumer products for unacceptable levels of lead content in paint, MidWest Home for Pets conducted random tests for lead content on our products. The lead testing was performed by Sherry Laboratories, an independent company, located in Muncie, Indiana. As a result of issues in the industry with zinc content in Bird cages, we also decided to test our coatings for zinc.

The EPA, FDA, USDA, AOAC, SM use the consumer Product Safety Council standard 16 CFR1303 for lead testing, which is the same standard we used.

I am pleased to report that NO LEAD was detected in our products and the zinc content was well below acceptable levels as determined by veterinarians.
